Quilting Elements

Free motion quilt with the aid of a paper design. The thin paper is perfect for domestic machine quilters to stitch through and tear away when finished. Joan will show you how to pin baste the paper to your quilt sandwich, give you tips on free motion stitching with the paper and the best way to remove the paper after you quilt through it. It is best if you have some experience with your free motion foot and bring a small project for you first attempt like placemats, a table runner or smaller size quilt.

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Some knowledge of working with your free motion foot for your sewing machine is required. If you have taken Joan's ABC's of Free Motion Quilting Class you will do fine.
Requirements: You will need to purchase your paper design at the shop for this class. Bring your sewing machine, free motion quilting foot, thread, quilt top, batting and backing fabric cut 2 inches larger on all sides than your quilt top, safety pins and basic sewing notions. Come pressed and prepared to baste the quilt so we can get to the quilting.
